Place Stanislas is considered the most beautiful square in France.

Features

The square was built between 1751 and 1755 by Stanislas, Duke of Lorraine.

It was designed by Emmanuel Héré (1705-1763).

It measures 125 metres by 106 metres and is where the Museum of Fine Arts, City Hall and the Opera House are built.

There are also six beautifully gilded Rococo style gates.

In 1983, Stanislas Square, Place de la Carriere and Place de l’Alliance were collectively inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
