The Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris is a new museum that opened in Paris in 2017.
The word ‘museum’ gives the impression of a collection of famous paintings, but in fact the museum displays the various works and trajectories of Yves Saint Laurent, one of the most famous designers of the 20th century.
The museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in fashion, as it is full of the charms of the man who was known as the king of mode.
The boutique also sells limited-edition museum tote bags, which make very nice souvenirs.

Apart from fashion-related people who are interested in the fine details of the works, the general public will be able to finish watching the exhibition in an hour.
Highlights
Visitors can see the various works left behind by Yves Saint Laurent and the atelier where he created them.
Exterior
The building facing Rue Marceau is immediately recognisable from the outside as the Musée Yves Saint Laurent.
Mr Saint Laurent’s most famous works are displayed as posters.
The actual entrance, as marked on the building, is on rue Léons Reynaud.
The entrance is rather small.
You will easily recognise the staff standing there.
The overall impression is of a building with no particular features.
(It is a very common building in Paris.)
There is not much to see on the exterior.
Interior
To access the museum, head up the stairs to the second floor.
There is a reception desk, where you can buy tickets if you don’t have them.
If you have booked online, just show your ticket.
There is a room to the left of reception, where you can also see Mr Saint Laurent’s work.
Sketch drawings are the main focus.
There is a spacious room at the back, but this is a dead end.
There were sketches of the work.
Photos of Mr Saint Laurent as a young man can be seen.
There was also a collaboration with The Simpsons.
Next, enter the main room from the right side of reception.
The artworks are decorated in neon.
Haute couture creations are on display.
After this area, stairs lead to the next floor.
The route is confusing.
Gorgeous dresses and gorgeous coats are on display.
The walls are decorated with enchanting accessories.
This is another very attractive accessory.
In the next room, visitors can see Mr Saint Laurent’s Atelier.
This is the atelier that was actually used.
It is as if he was here just a few moments ago creating his artwork.
The museum dead-ends here.
Return the way you came.
Downstairs, a video of Mr Yves Saint Laurent’s actual collection is shown.
The last room is a stunning room with jewellery on display on both sides.
Note that, although it is difficult to see, the exit is on the right ahead.
Every single piece is fascinating.
If you are interested in accessories and jewellery, it is worth visiting the museum just to be able to see these pieces up close.

There is a gift shop before the exit.
Clothing books and postcards are available.

The Yves Saint Laurent Museum is a hot new spot in Paris.
The overall impression was, to be honest, a little underwhelming.
This is difficult to describe, but my impression is that the museum is more for people with some knowledge of clothing than for visual enjoyment.
It is more suitable for those working or studying in the clothing industry than for the general public.
I love fashion too, but I still get the impression that it is a bit of a specialised museum.
Recommended for those who have time to spare during their stay or who have been to Paris many times.
